Senior Buyer
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Buyer to join our procurement team. The successful candidate will manage sourcing and purchasing activities, build strong supplier relationships, ensure timely delivery of products, and contribute to cost-saving and inventory optimization initiatives. This role requires strong negotiation skills, analytical ability, and experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement sourcing strategies for assigned categories to ensure supply continuity, quality, and competitive pricing.
Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers; manage ongoing supplier performance, conduct regular reviews, and resolve performance or quality issues promptly.
Procurement Execution: Create and issue purchase orders, monitor order confirmations, track deliveries, and ensure accuracy of pricing and terms in accordance with company policy.
Negotiation & Cost Management: Lead negotiations for pricing, lead times, payment terms, and service levels to achieve cost savings and improve total cost of ownership.
Inventory Optimization: Collaborate with demand planning and warehouse teams to maintain appropriate inventory levels, reduce excess stock, and minimize stockouts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, quality, logistics, and finance teams to align procurement activities with business needs and ensure smooth product launches and replenishment.
Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements; identify and mitigate supply risks.
Reporting & Analysis: Prepare regular reports on spend, supplier performance, savings, and market trends; use data to inform sourcing decisions and continuous improvement.
Process Improvement: Contribute to the development and refinement of procurement processes, systems, and tools to increase efficiency and transparency.
Skills and Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of procurement, buying, or category management experience, preferably in retail, consumer goods, or related industries.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with procurement systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is an advantage.
Negotiation & Commercial Acumen: Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record of delivering cost savings and value from suppliers.
Analytical Ability: Comfortable analyzing spend data, supplier metrics, and market information to drive decisions and improvements.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; able to interact professionally with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Organization & Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a dynamic environment.
Teamwork & Leadership: Collaborative mindset, able to work across teams and mentor junior procurement staff.
Legal Eligibility: Legal authorization to work in the country of employment is required.
