Inventory Controller Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory Controller Specialist to join our team full-time. This role will focus on maintaining inventory accuracy, controlling stock movements, supporting replenishment activities, and partnering with operations, procurement, and sales to ensure products are available when and where they are needed. The ideal candidate is analytical, process-driven, and committed to continuous improvement in inventory control practices.
Core Accountabilities:
Inventory Accuracy & Control:
Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventories; reconcile discrepancies and investigate root causes to reduce variances.
Implement and enforce inventory control procedures to minimize shrinkage, obsolescence, and stockouts.
Oversee receiving, put-away, storage, and stock rotation practices with warehouse and store teams to ensure proper handling and traceability.
Replenishment Support & Stock Management:
Monitor stock levels and execute replenishment strategies to maintain target service levels and safety stock.
Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to prioritize and expedite orders when necessary and manage lead-time variability.
Support returns, transfers, and disposal processes to maintain accurate on-hand quantities.
Reporting & Performance Metrics:
Prepare and distribute regular inventory reports and dashboards (e.g., inventory accuracy, days of supply, stockouts, turnover) to inform stakeholders.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs), identify trends, and recommend corrective actions to improve inventory performance.
Document findings, action plans, and process changes; communicate updates to cross-functional teams and management.
Systems & Process Improvement:
Maintain accurate item master data and inventory records in the company’s inventory management and ERP systems; ensure data integrity.
Identify process inefficiencies and lead or support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline receiving, storage, and distribution workflows.
Participate in system testing, implementations, and integrations related to inventory control.
Collaboration & Compliance:
Partner with operations, sales, merchandising, and finance to align inventory control activities with business objectives and promotions.
Ensure compliance with company policies, audit requirements, and regulatory standards for inventory handling and reporting.
Provide training and support to warehouse and store staff on inventory procedures and best practices.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Experience:
2+ years of experience in inventory control, inventory analysis, supply chain, or warehouse operations; retail, distribution, or wholesale experience is a plus.
Hands-on experience with inventory management systems and ERP platforms; strong Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
Demonstrated ability to investigate discrepancies, implement corrective actions, and support inventory planning decisions.
